New York, 1965. The year the first Fridays opened on the corner of 63rd+1st with the timeless promise ‘In here, it’s always Friday’. Inspired by the Barnum & Bailey Circus and with an ambition to put on the ‘greatest show on earth’ a red and white striped phenomenon was born. Within a week it was the first restaurant requiring barricades to handle the hordes of enthusiastic guests! It became the meeting place that served not just hot food and drink but legendary atmosphere.
We brought Fridays to the UK in 1986, initially at Hagley Road, Birmingham and Covent Garden followed swiftly afterwards – the latter became the busiest Fridays in the world by 1992.
Fast forward to present day and we have 85 locations in England, Scotland, Wales and the Channel Islands and serve over 12 million guests each year. As well as our physical locations we now offer Click & Collect, Delivery (our own service is on trial and via our delivery partners), and a Fridays at Home range led by ready-made Cocktails and our Butcher’s Box range.
We remain best known for our expert bartenders, American inspired food and drink including quality steaks, famous burgers and ribs with our Legendary Glaze and our world-famous Long Island Iced Tea. And of course… that Fridays feeling!
