Context

Following the acquisition of the T.G.I. Friday's restaurants from Whitbread a new team and central infrastructure is being established to revitalise the T.G.I. Friday's brand in the UK. This revitalization includes significant investments in restaurant refurbishment, menu innovation, food quality, service standards and marketing.

In order to support the revitalization programme a new supply chain team is being assembled. This is a central role on that team and will shape the supplier base that is installed to support the business. The right candidate will love the opportunity to create a brand new function in an environment where excellence is the standard.

Overview

Accountable for sourcing and managing all food and drink product categories for T.G.I. Friday's UK. Food knowledge plus industry experience is required. The position is an individual contributor and influences £25m or more in annual spend.

Responsibilities

  1. Accountable for sourcing all food and drink categories
  2. Responsible for managing, negotiating and implementing supplier contracts and ensuring the supply arrangements have a firm legal base
  3. Working cross-functionally to ensure product, service, price & quality solutions are effectively implemented & sustained
  4. Participates in formulating and implementing long term category/product strategies including pricing and contingency plans
  5. Works with Marketing, Operations, and R&D to optimize the supplier choices
  6. Manages towards and delivers to agreed timescales
  7. Negotiates supplier income to support marketing activities
  8. Drives quality improvement throughout the supply chain
  9. Develops and implements risk mitigation strategies
  10. Establishes service levels with stakeholders and suppliers
  11. Monitors sourcing agreements in regards to contracted service levels,
    sales, audit, customer satisfaction, spend, etc.
  12. Develops, monitors, and improves sourcing processes.
  13. Monitors industry issues and communicates to team concerns or emerging trends

Measurements of Success

  1. Cost of goods budget achieved
  2. Product availability targets met
  3. Supplier Income targets met
  4. Quality improvement program is achieved
  5. Supplier performance is improved

Qualifications

  1. 4-year college degree; MBA or CIPS preferred
  2. At least 5 years procurement experience
  3. Restaurant or retail procurement experience preferred
  4. Food sourcing experience is essential
  5. Expertise in sourcing tools and negotiation tools
